DCU Astro League Playoffs
Dear Captains,
We hope you enjoyed this semester’s Astro League. Many thanks to you and your team for taking part. In appreciation, we would like to offer you the opportunity to sign up for semester 2 at a discounted rate.
If you register and pay a deposit of €40 before the end of semester 1 you will get a 20% discount on your entrance fee and can enter your team for just €80 (Remaining balance to be paid before the start of the Astro League in semester 2).

The Astro League Play-offs begin this week and all games will have a referee.
The games will be knockout with the winner progressing to play on Wed Dec 14th,when the Semi Finals and Finals are scheduled for.
The Astro League Semi Finals and Finals are scheduled for this Wed Dec 14th.
The winning teams in each Divisional Final will be declared league winners and will each receive trophies and an invitation to defend their title with free entry to the Astro League in Semester 2:
- Semi Finals and Finals of each Division will be held on Wednesday
- AS A RESULT KICK OFF TIMES HAVE BEEN CHANGED-PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN KICK OFF TIMES BELOW
- Finalists will be given a brief rest before competing in the final
- All games will be 30 minutes (15 minutes each half)
- A game tied after 30 minutes will be decided by the taking of penalty kicks

SEMI FINALS kick off 2pm:
- Spain’s Youth Squad v Tolka Rovers
- Shook Badgers v Real Madrid F.C
FINAL kick off 2.45pm
Group 2
SEMI FINALS kick off 2.45pm :
- Mov Team v Townawaddyduff
- Afroskeel v FC International
FINAL kick off 3.30pm

FINAL kick off 4.15pm
The following rules will be implemented in the knockout phase:-
- Teams can only field players registered to play for them (if a team is found to have played an ineliglible player they will be eliminated from the League)
- Games will start promptly as games may need to be decided on penalties ,all teams are asked to arrive on time
- A player sent off during the game will miss the remainder of that game only
Game Rules
FIFA laws will apply,with the following exceptions
- Slide tackles at the ball will be deemed dangerous play by the referees and punished accordingly
- However Slide tackles in front of the ball,to block a shot,are allowed
- A goalkeeper who handles outside of the goal area and,in the opinion of the referee,prevents a goalscoring opportunity will be punished by the awarding of a penalty kick.
- ALL PENALTY KICKS WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE EDGE OF THE GOAL AREA.THE TAKER IS ONLY ALLOWED TO TAKE ONE STEP BEFORE STRIKING THE BALL.THE GOALKEEPER MUST REMAIN ON THE GOAL-LINE WHILE THE KICK IS BEING TAKEN.

We ask you to make sure that all of your players are familiar with the rules.PLEASE BE ADVISED-The referees have been instructed to take appropriate action at any hint of abuse aimed towards them or at any instances of dangerous play.A straight dismissal will occur in these cases if the referee feels it warrants it.If you have any queries please send them to soccer@dcu.ie
